Retiring JD Edwards EnterpriseOne means preserving agreed historical records and usable access before removing the source application dependency. For this scenario, prioritise journal detail, ledger balances and job-cost history. Compare required reports and documents with source evidence, test permissions and obtain business acceptance before scheduling shutdown.
This guide covers the retirement questions, a mock-data ArchiveHub demonstration and the validation work needed to define a project scope.
What a read-only E1 really costs
Cost categories are a discovery checklist, not a guaranteed savings calculation. Verify support status, deployment, shared infrastructure and contract terms for the actual installation.
A JD Edwards environment that nobody posts to still needs everything a live one needs. There is the database underneath, Oracle, SQL Server or DB2 for IBM i, with its licences and its DBA. There is the Enterprise Server, the HTML server and the deployment server, each with an operating system that keeps drifting further out of support. There are Tools Releases and security fixes that someone has to keep applying, or a risk exception that someone has to keep signing.
Then there is the knowledge. Reading E1 history well means knowing that a date is stored as a CYYDDD Julian number, that "AA" is actuals and "BA" the budget ledger in F0902, how Automatic Accounting Instructions route postings, and which UDC in F0005 decodes a document type. The CNC administrator who kept the system patched and the analyst who could build a working data selection are often the same two people, and they will not be there forever. Every audit request turns into a ticket, a temporary user ID and a nervous wait.
Scope, versions and evidence
This is an illustrative workflow, not a customer case study. Confirm the source release, deployment, modules, customisations and extraction permissions before using the mappings below. Tables and report labels describe the demonstration catalogue; native-report equivalence has not been independently certified. Use agreed source reports and representative records for acceptance testing.
An archive is not a replacement for every operational feature of the retired ERP. Document required historical tasks, excluded functions and any archive-derived calculations.
Historical data to scope for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne
ArchiveHub does not flatten JD Edwards into a generic "transactions" table. It keeps the E1 data model you already know, table by table:
- F0911 Account Ledger with every G/L line, batch number, document type and ledger type, alongside F0902 Account Balances and the F0901 Account Master, so trial balances rebuild from the same source E1 used.
- F0011 Batch Control Records, so you can still show who entered and posted each batch.
- F0411 Accounts Payable Ledger vouchers with F0413/F0414 payment header and detail, and F03B11 Customer Ledger invoices with F03B13/F03B14 receipts.
- F0101 Address Book Master plus F0111 Who's Who, F0115 phone numbers and F01151 electronic addresses, with F0401 Supplier Master and F03012 Customer Master by Line of Business.
- F4201/F4211 sales orders, F4301/F4311 purchase orders and F43121 receipts and voucher match.
- F1201 Asset Master and F1202 Asset Account Balances, F0006 Business Unit Master, F0018 Tax Detail and F4008 Tax Rate/Area.
- Payroll history in F06156 Pay Check History, F06166 pay check taxes, F0618 employee transactions and the F069116 PDBA master.
- Configuration that gives the rest meaning: F0005 User Defined Codes, F0010 Company Constants, F0014 Payment Terms.
In the demonstrated scope, each field keeps its native JDE alias with its description. In the ad-hoc query builder, a finance analyst can still filter F0911 on GLDCT and GLLT, or pull F0902 by business unit and object account, without learning a new vocabulary.

Source documents stay attached
Document types below illustrate the intended scope. Include source attachments and external repositories explicitly, and test retrieval and record linkage before decommissioning.
The PDFs that once sat in media objects or a separate imaging system come across with the records they belong to. Archived supplier vouchers, customer invoices and purchase orders open with their documents. So do customer statements, bank statements and bank reconciliations, 1099 year-end records, and the customer, supplier, employee, fixed asset and job records. An auditor who asks for "the invoice behind this F0411 line" gets it from the same screen.
Beyond the reports
Confirm these capabilities, configuration requirements and limits during the demonstration and scope review; the report catalogue alone does not validate them.
Select the required reports and confirm which additional queries are supported:
- Ad-hoc query builder across the configured archived tables, with native JDE field descriptions and suggested joins (F0911 to F0901, F0411 to F0101, and so on).
- Retention rules and purge with approval, so records leave the archive when their retention period ends, and only after sign-off.
- Legal hold that overrides retention for anything under litigation or investigation.
- Personal-data governance: agree the lawful retention, access and deletion requirements with the responsible privacy and records teams. Product features alone do not establish regulatory compliance.
- Access controls: define and test permissions for the required companies, records and sensitive fields. Do not assume that system-level roles reproduce the original ERP permissions, particularly for payroll and HR data.
- OData feeds into Excel, Power BI and SAP Analytics Cloud for anyone who wants to analyse history next to current data.
How the decommissioning project runs
- Extract. The E1 tables are copied from the production database with their native structure, aliases and descriptions intact.
- Validate. Row counts are compared table by table. Balances are tied out: F0902 against F0911, the A/P and A/R ledgers against their G/L control accounts, the trial balance against the last one E1 printed.
- Parallel read access. Your users run their familiar inquiries in ArchiveHub while E1 is still available, and compare agreed test results and document differences.
- Retire after acceptance. Obtain documented sign-off for data reconciliation, document retrieval, user access, retention and legal holds, recovery and remaining integrations. Retire only the approved components; shared infrastructure may still be needed. End or reduce subscriptions, licences and support only where the contract permits. Budget for archive operation and any residual costs.

Questions about JD Edwards EnterpriseOne retirement
Can a database backup replace EnterpriseOne inquiries?
A backup is a recovery asset, not a replacement for usable inquiries. Test account lookups, job-cost drill-downs, code descriptions and document retrieval without relying on the original E1 runtime.
How should job-cost history be validated?
Agree the jobs, ledger types, periods and cost codes in scope. Compare budgets, actuals and commitments against retained source reports, recording any exclusions or calculation differences.
What does this ArchiveHub demonstration prove?
The screenshots illustrate how selected records can be presented using mock data. They do not prove production completeness, customer outcomes or parity with every JD Edwards EnterpriseOne report. Request a demonstration against your own approved scope and acceptance cases.
